I have a strong love for synthetic music in the fact that you can create new soundscapes and instruments that have never been heard before. I had always been fascinated by the Moog Modular and early synths that forged the way for electronic music.
So I came up with the concept of wanting to play with these legendary synths and make a song for each year from 1968-1987 (Starting in 1968 was only due to it being my birth year)
Now I am poor, let’s get that out there because, there is no way I could afford to get all of these vintage synths so I did the next best thing I bought the best emulations I could get my hands on.
When I approached this album I did so from the point of view that Electronic music was child who had to grow up and become its own person. To that end each song from 1968-1987 plays on the evolution of electronic music as it get more sophisticated and learns its own language and eventually starts to play with natural instrument to the point of trying to mimic them.
The songs start of primitive like a baby trying to form words and as it grows it becomes self-aware and even develops its own way of speaking. Evolving and becoming more textured and complex over time.
I hope you enjoy the songs as much as I have enjoyed discovering the rich history of a form of music I have made my life’s language.
